Jeff Payne, cruising the Med in Constantia had an expensive
experience when the high temperatures and high salinity combined to build up salt deposits blocking his exhaust siphon-break (the inverted U) and allow sea-water to be sucked back into his engine. He recommends very regular cleaning and checking. (I immediately checked mine and also found it blocked). If water is not continuously running out into your cockpit drain, then yours too is likely to be blocked and putting your engine at risk.
Rudder Shaft Gland. - From Derek Gange

Charles Watson was extremely helpful in getting a drawing of the gland assembly and ordering replacement glands and locating ring.
